The Perfective present in Lithuanian

This article offers a picture of the Lithuanian perfective present, with particular emphasis on treatment habituality and genericity, use aspect forms in narrative text types, peripheral constructionalised often pragmatically specialised uses presents partly harking back to actional differences underlying opposition Baltic as well Slavonic. The introductory part general outline system briefly discusses vexed question existence or non-existence grammatical category Lithuanian. It is argued that, contrary widely held view, languages have aspect, though weakly grammaticalised.
